With the change of a new Chestrig, I added a battle belt to my setup. I will go over my choice for a battle belt and why I chose the Tasmanian Tiger Warrior belt.
I switched from a chestrig and a fannypack to a new chestrig and a battlebelt. I changed my setup to upgrade my flexibility. With the choice of a belt I was able to add some of my basic gear to my belt and out of my chestrig. My setup is build on flexibility with the option to drop items and still be fully functional for a short amount of time.
Why this belt?
I spend a lot of time to test the different types of belts that are out there. For me my biggest problem is that most belts crawl up when I run around. Because this belt is build out of 2 parts, an inner and outer belt. The inner belt has Velcro on one site and fabric on the other side and is held in place by your pants loops and the outer belt is held in place to the inner belt by 3 velcro straps. The Velcro straps are covered with 3 antislip strips.
The outer belt is also something in between of the belts that are out there. You have the big and bulky belts and on the other side you have the inner molle belts. This belt has best of both worlds. It has enough loops to attatch patches firm and stays nice on the inner belt if you run. It need to be said that you don’t have the padding as you have in the bigger belts. Most of those type of belts also have tapered front things. What makes it really comfortable when you’ sitting down. You also have a few options in this type of belt. I choose the Tasmanian Tiger one, because it had lasercut molle loops instead of the fabric loops and also it was available at airsoftshop, so I could fit it and bring it home. There are 4 laser cuts to attach all your molle accessories
Pouch setup
I’m still fiddling around to see what pouches works for me. 2 things were a no brainer that is an admin pouch for all my small stuff, GPS, writing stuff, compass, map, … and on the other side I carry my pistol in a drop belt holster. I’m still testing out what setup works best for me.
At first I wanted to keep my back clear to be able to sit and lay on my back but also to make sure my backpack still fits over my belt instead of pushing on the pouches. I tried the first test with my IFAK, it went pretty good.
To add the pouches it’s the same as all molle systems, you weave the molle on the loops. Small tip, If you are trying out your setup, don’t weave them in but just loosly connect them. Your fingers will thank you. For the pistol holster, depending on the type of holster you use, you can mount it in different ways. The most common and most stable way will be to use the vertical cuts to get the belt out and make it visual. Than you can attach your holster to the belt instead of using the molle. Because you use the belt instead of the molle loops it is much more stable. This works pretty good with my dropbelt holster.
Numbers
I’ve some more specifics for you
The price for the belt is 40eur for the outer belt and 10eur for the inner belt. What is pretty good for the quality you get. Tasmanian Tiger is known for its quality products.
The inner belt is 38mm high, what fits in most belt loops and comes in 4 different sizes, S, M, L and XL.
The outer belt comes in 3 sizes, S, M and L and comes in a variety of colors. Black, Coyote, Khaki and OD. Yes, mine is OD and is made out of cordura 700den fabric. It combines the sturdiness of the 1000 and the lightness of the 500
Final toughts
This is why I choose this belt out of all the belts you have. If you can find yourself in those reasons, I would advise you to check this belt out. If you choose another type of belt let me know in the comments. I like to know why people choose some kind of belt. It’s important to try things out and to do research on the type of belts that are out there. Something that fits my needs might not fit your needs.
